Monica Rabello de Castro holds a Bachelor in Mathematics of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Later, she got a D.E.A. In Education Sciences from the Université de Strasbourg I, in France, and a Master degree en Philosophy of Education at the Brazilian Foundation Getúlio Vargas, in Rio. Her PhD dissertation, in Psychology, was defended in the university in which she also did her undergraduate studies. Since 2003, she is a retired professor of the Universidade Estadual do Rio de Janeiro.

Presently, she teaches and continues her research career at the Universidade Estácio de Sá, in collaboration with the Department of Communication of the Université de Montréal, where she is presently developing a project funded by the Brazilian Council of Scientific Research. In addition, Monica R. de Castro is editor of the « Revista Educação e Cultura Contemporânea », published by the Graduate Program in Education of her university.

Professor Rabello de Castro is developping researches integrating the Education Sciences, Communication and Psychology in which she inter-relates theories of social representations and natural logic in studies of argumentation processes regarding mediated education, teacher training and cognitive processes in order to promote the education of street children in Rio. Monica Rabello de Castro, who wrote many articles and books, has a specific expertise in argumentation theories.
